Quilters Against Cancer

Quilting celebrates survivors. It has for hundreds of years, been protecting women from loneliness, depression and isolation. The very art is a survivor, which can be traced to ancient Egypt. The quilts themselves, well used and well loved, often survive a hundred years or more, each stitch a testament to the power of women working together, supporting each other in a common goal.

QAC—quilters against cancer. We have all been touched in some way with breast cancer be it ourselves, our grandmother, mother, sister, friend or a coworker. Surviving the ordeal is traumatic, painful, and often expensive.

QAC is a non-profit organization established to financially help women that have been diagnosed with breast cancer with no health insurance. This is an invitation to gather your friends to quilt in support of women in need. The organization’s core is based on fundraising efforts around the donation and auction of quilts and wall hangings. To make this project successful, we need your quilting skill, energy, enthusiasm and time.

The organization accepts donated quilts from guilds and individual quilters and raffles them. The profits received goes back to the county from which the quilt came to help the women in need. Women across the country have the opportunity to benefit from this program with your donation of a quilt.

HOW ARE THE FUNDS DISTRIBUTED?

Funds will be distributed to those that fit our mandate of providing support to breast cancer survivors and their families through the programs of Women’s Health Services and county health departments in your area.
